WHY USE BAMBOO?

No doubt every parent wants the best for their baby, including the softest and most hypoallergenic materials and skincare.  When it comes to baby clothes and blankets, it’s normal to picture something soft, comfortable and hypoallergenic. Bamboo and cotton fabrics are the two fiber options that meet these requirements.  However, since bamboo has shown several advantages over cotton, the popularity of baby bamboo products is growing rapidly.

Bamboo fibres make for an incredibly soft fabric that is both gentle and cozy to the touch. Bamboo is oftentimes compared to cashmere and since its fibres have more elasticity and are less bulky than cotton, they offer more comfort for your baby’s skin.

A research showed that bamboo fabric can absorb 70% more moisture than cotton. Thanks to this quality, it can quickly wick moisture away from the skin. Cotton, on the other hand, doesn’t offer that particular quality to the same extend. Plus, bamboo is a very breathable material, which allows for maximum air circulation which in turn helps eliminate bacteria from the area. The breath-ability of the fabric also helps keep the baby’s body temperature down, ensuring great comfort.

Probably my favourite reason for getting bamboo viscose for my babies is that it’s 100% naturally antibacterial. What this means is that it take an active role in resisting bacteria that’ll likely find its way to my baby. Let’s face it, babies aren’t the cleanest people out there, which is why bamboo viscose being antibacterial is a great reason it’s safe.

Viscose made from bamboo is considered one of the strongest and most affordable fabrics to wear or sleep in. The fabric is well known for keeping its shape, strength, and durability three times the durability and efficiency of cotton (when cared for properly). Bamboo fabrics are known for keeping their bright colours significantly longer than cotton fabric and are very easy to maintain.

On top of everything, bamboo requires no pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers to grow, which means none of these chemicals can come in contact with your baby’s skin through baby bamboo products.

Bamboo viscose is safe for babies since the fabric is made out of bamboo, which is naturally antibacterial, anti-fungal, hypoallergenic, and UV protection.

Unlike more traditional materials, like cotton and polyester, bamboo viscose is able to stay fresh and clean for much longer, which is also very eco-friendly since it can last longer without being washed.

Getting your baby a dose of vitamin D from the sun is great for their skin, but it’s important to keep that exposure to a minimum. Well, bamboo viscose is naturally UV protectant, so even a thin bamboo viscose product, like a swaddle, will keep your baby safe from harmful UV rays.

Bamboo curtains  are also a great way to do this, which is just another reason why bamboo viscose is safe for babies.

I personally own a bunch of clothes made out of bamboo viscose and one of the things I noticed right away is how breathable the fabric is compared to other materials. It’s also extremely good at keeping my body temperature regulated properly, so staying warm in the winter or cool in the summer is no problem when wearing clothes made out of bamboo viscose.

By using eco-friendly products that are safe for our babies, we can be a part of the solution instead of the problem.
